Wonderful, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL NEWS!

On March 14, 2011, we finally received that wonderful piece of paper . . . that plain, black on white that looks so ordinary but holds so much meaning! YES!!! Our "Golden Ticket" finally arrived from the United States Gov't!!! We have official permission to pursue the adoption of a special needs child of either gender up to the age of 11 years!

This is a wonderful thing after waiting so long  . . . and God willing . . . the stack of documents now sitting on our kitchen table will be in a Fed-Ex envelope wending their way to Katya's country by Tuesday evening!! Please pray for all the crazy running around we have to do to tomorrow to juggle the lasts steps in between the appointments and such that were scheduled already for the day! It's going to be a long day but it will all be worth it if we can get that dossier safely to Katya's country and then be able to officially let the powers that be know that we are serious about adding Miss Katya to our family! Can't wait to see my sweet heart again . . . . can't wait to love on her . . . can't wait to watch her  completely capture her Daddy's heart and wrap it around her little finger. ;-)

We are being told to expect to travel in about 5 weeks or so . . . please pray for the remaining funds that we need to raise!! And as always, please feel free to share this blog with others and ask them to prayerfully consider joining in helping to bring Katya home.

I have a question for you, Hope Ann:
As I understand it, the next step is to submit your dossier, which is then translated and reviewed. And then, you'll receive an SDA appointment, yes?

But what happens if a family cannot raise the funds in time for the SDA appointment date/time of travel? Can you request a postponement?

I ask out of curiosity. Fortunately, with the many adoption blogs that I've followed, god has always provided the funds in time for travel and I'm sure that you won't be any exception!

But I've always wondered what happens if you just don't have the funds in time to continue, especially since many of those dossier documents are only good for 6 months! If you miss your SDA appt., do you essentially need to start over??

Sylvia, those are good questions. And I'm not sure I totally have an answer for you. However, I know when we adopted our DD from Russia we were told that when we were given a date to be in Russia by the authorities, we had better do our dead level best to show for it! Only a funeral or hospitalizaion of one of us or an immediate family member was an acceptable reason for not showing up at the appointed time. I would imagine that something similar will be the case in Katya's country. I certainly do not intend to be the person to be a test case! We are trusting God IN FAITH that He knows where the money is giong to come from. We have approximately 5 weeks or so till travel time probably. That's about $3,000 a week we need to raise. So all help spreading the word about our FSP, aprons, teacups etc. which are for sale is appreciated! Thanks for all your support and prayers.
